Simple Skin Care for Oily Skin

Today, we will discuss the bacteria that cause skin problems and the skincare method, especially for oily skin.

How to know your skin condition

When you have skin troubles, it is important to know the cause and take action as soon as possible.

First, check your own skin condition with the following checklist.

☐Do you scrub your face hard to remove dirt when you wash or wipe your face?

Do you use skin care products that contain a lot of oil such as glycerin or oleic acid?

Do you only use face creams to moisturize your skin?

Well, do you know why skin problems occur in the first place?

Various factors have things to do with our skin conditions. But basically, sebum and bacteria are deeply involved.

・Cutibacterium acne

・Corynebacteria

・Malassezia fungi

The above three are bacteria that can cause skin problems. When they increase and become out of balance, they begin to act badly on our skin. And sebum is the food for them.

Therefore, maintaining a balance of sebum and bacteria is essential for beautiful skin.

Blockage of the pores, due to clogging of the pores with sebum, or the heavy secretion of sebum will cause the following results....

Increase of Cutibacterium acne and other bacteria that feed on sebum can cause inflammation or acne.

Therefore, we believe that the key here is to control the balance of bacteria and sebum.

If two or more of the above questions apply to you, your skin type may be oily skin and you may need to reconsider your skin care routine.

      Now, let’s review each question.

1.Do you scrub your face hard to remove dirt when you wash or wipe your face?

If this question applies to you, the cause of your skin problem may be excessive face washing.

In this case, it is necessary to change the way you wash your face.

Try using a face wash only once a day, lower the water temperature when washing, and use a mild and gentle face wash.

It is a good idea to try using a slightly acidic face wash!

2.Do you use skin care products that contain a lot of oil such as glycerin or oleic acid?

Glycerin and oleic acid have excellent moisturizing effects, but excessive use can lead to the proliferation of Cutibacterium acne, especially if you have oily skin with high levels of sebum. And this leads to your skin problems.

If this is the case, you may need to change the cosmetic product you use.

Glycerin and oleic acid are often used in moisturizers, so please check your current skin care products to see if they contain any of them.

Especially if they are listed at the top of the ingredients list, that product contains a lot of them.

If you suffer from sebum or oily skin, please refrain from using them and check if your skin condition changes.

3.Do you only use face creams to moisturize your skin?

If this applies to you, why don’t you add 5 minutes more to care for your skin?

The reason you get the feeling of moisture after applying the face cream is that the surface of the skin is moisturized by the cream.

However, it can't give moisture to the inside of the skin.

Even if you put a filter on the surface, the inside is not moisturized enough.

No matter how expensive the cream is, it is only a filter and will cause problems due to lack of moisture.

Self-diagnosis of skin condition can be dangerous

Do you usually self-diagnose your skin condition and use strong peeling agents or remedies?

If this applies to you, you may aggravate the skin irritation.

Make sure to have a proper medical examination and use skin medicines under the supervision and instruction of a dermatologist.

      Ethanol (sterilizing ingredient)

      Salicylic acid (peeling ingredient)

      AHA (peeling ingredient)

      Retinol (peeling ingredient)

These ingredients are characterized by their strong irritation to the skin and high sterilizing effect. Therefore, depending on your skin condition, they may upset the balance of bacteria and can worsen the problem.

We also need to be careful with the use of antibiotics, which doctors prescribe as oral or ointment medications.

Antibiotics are used to suppress the growth of bacteria that cause inflammation, but excessive use of antibiotics can kill or suppress good bacteria too.

Of course, they are necessary for treatment, but we need to use them appropriately to the doctor's instructions.

And we also recommend not to use antibiotics prescribed in the past on one's judgment.

Killing bacteria may sound easy, but what we should do is control sebum, their food, rather than simply killing the bacteria.

In addition, intestinal health can also affect your skin, so we recommend you improve the intestinal environment through diet.

Recommended skin care routine for oily skin

Now let us introduce the daily skin care routine for oily skin.

Do you usually do these skin care routines?

1)Taking off makeup with oil containing makeup remover

2)Washing your face after removing makeup

3)Using hot water when washing the face

Depending on your skin type, you may need to avoid using oil based makeup remover. It's because oil tends to clog pores.

After removing makeup, you may usually wash your face again with a face wash, but this may remove too much sebum, which in turn may lead to excessive sebum secretion.

Also, if you use hot water when washing your face, it may also remove too much sebum, leading to dryness and excessive sebum secretion. It is said that cold water below 30℃ is better for the skin.

Excessive skin care not only increases the skin problems but also causes problems.

By knowing the proper skincare method, you can get trouble-free beautiful skin!
